Description

The Abbott E-Z Split Key Cup keeps the test panel locked away from the specimen until the collector inserts the key, so the donor never controls when testing starts. That single design choice protects the integrity of every collection, and results still read five minutes after activation.

  • Activation – Collector controlled key starts the test
  • Panel range – Configurations from 3 to 12 drugs
  • Read time – Results in 5 minutes
  • Packaging – 25 cups per box

About This Key Activated Drug Screen Cup

Split key designs exist for one reason: the collector, not the donor, decides when the specimen meets the test strips. The donor provides the sample into a sealed cup, and testing begins only when staff insert the activation key, which removes any window for the donor to influence the process. Several configurations are CLIA waived, and the wider sets add specimen validity checks for oxidants, specific gravity, pH, nitrite, glutaraldehyde and creatinine.

Panels run from three drug screens for targeted policies up to twelve drug configurations that include buprenorphine. The self contained cup minimizes collector exposure to urine during handling. Results are preliminary screens, and non negative results are confirmed with a more specific chemical method such as GC/MS.

Features and Benefits

Collection Integrity

  • Key activation – The test cannot start until the collector inserts the key, which keeps activation under staff control

  • Validity options – Selected configurations add oxidants, specific gravity, pH, nitrite, glutaraldehyde and creatinine checks

Program Fit

  • Panel breadth – Configurations screen 3 to 12 drugs, including BUP, OXY, MDMA and TCA on wider panels

  • Record friendly – Results can be photocopied for result recording and donor files

Why Choose This Product

When a program worries about donor interference, activation control is the feature that matters most. This cup pairs that control with the panel breadth of a full drug menu, so security does not force a compromise on coverage.

  • Donor proof timing – Testing starts only when staff turn the key, which closes the tampering window
  • Same visit answers – Five minute reads keep collection appointments short
  • Validity built in – Wider configurations check six specimen validity markers
  • Policy range – Panels from 3 to 12 drugs match both targeted and broad testing policies

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the key activation work?

The donor provides the specimen into the sealed cup, and the test panel stays separated until the collector inserts the key. Testing starts at that moment, and results read five minutes later.

Are any configurations CLIA waived?

Yes. Several configurations in the option list are marked CLIA waived, including the five and six drug panels with validity checks. Choose a waived configuration if your site runs waived testing.

Which configurations include validity checks?

The DUD and DUA series configurations add oxidant, specific gravity, pH, nitrite, glutaraldehyde and creatinine checks as listed in each option label. Standard DOA configurations screen drugs only.

Do positive results need confirmation?

Yes. Results are preliminary analytical results only. A more specific alternate chemical method, with GC/MS as the preferred confirmatory method, confirms a non negative screen.

Is this the genuine Abbott E-Z Split Key line?

Each configuration carries its Abbott Toxicology catalog number in the option list, matched to the panel and validity set it names. The cups arrive in original manufacturer packaging through the authorized distributor.
