The Metrex MetriCide OPA Plus High-Level Disinfectant anchors the Metrex infection prevention range for facilities that standardize on proven chemistry. The active ingredient is ortho-phthalaldehyde (OPA), so the solution is glutaraldehyde-free.
It is a high-level disinfectant for reprocessing heat-sensitive semi-critical devices for which sterilization is not suitable. Used manually, it disinfects in 12 minutes at 20 degrees C and can be reused for up to 30 days when monitored. In an automated endoscope reprocessor (AER), it disinfects in 5 minutes at 25 degrees C and can be reused for up to 14 days. Dedicated test strips monitor the 0.3% minimum recommended concentration (MRC). It disinfects a wide range of endoscopes and other heat-sensitive semi-critical medical devices.
