Description

The Mission Plus Hb Hemoglobin Meter is a portable, handheld analyzer that measures hemoglobin in whole blood at the point of care, with results in less than 15 seconds. It uses reflectance photometry on the methemoglobin principle and needs only a 10 microliter capillary or venous sample. The wide, easy to read display shows the hemoglobin value with a calculated hematocrit, and the meter stores up to 1,000 results for later review or transfer. This configuration includes the meter, carrying case, warranty card, quick reference guide and user manual.

  • Results in under 15 seconds – a full hemoglobin and calculated hematocrit readout from a 10 microliter sample
  • Truly portable – handheld meter weighing 145 g without batteries, powered by 4 AAA batteries for about 2,700 tests
  • 1,000 result memory – results stored with date, time and ID number, with mini USB data transfer
  • Automatic calibration – the cartridge code chip sets the meter, keeping setup consistent between operators

Handheld Hemoglobin Results at the Point of Care

Sending every hemoglobin check to a central laboratory slows decisions that often need to happen during the visit, and this meter is designed to close that gap. It reads a test cartridge inserted into its cartridge slot, applies reflectance photometry to the sample area, and reports the result before the patient leaves the chair. Precision is equivalent to laboratory analyzers in the manufacturer’s method comparison work, with within run precision at or below 3 percent. The large display presents the hemoglobin value prominently and adds a calculated hematocrit for the 12.3 to 17.5 g/dL portion of the range where that estimate is provided. Battery power and automatic shut off after 8 minutes make it practical for shared use across exam rooms. For professional in vitro diagnostic use in primary care and point of care settings.

Features and Benefits

Measurement

  • Methemoglobin principle – reflectance photometry at 525 nm for quantitative hemoglobin results
  • Wide range – measures hemoglobin from 5.6 to 23.5 g/dL, covering anemia screening through elevated values
  • Flexible units – reports in g/dL, g/L or mmol/L to match local reporting practice

Daily Operation

  • Code chip calibration – each cartridge canister carries its code chip, and the meter calibrates automatically
  • Optical verifier support – daily checks with the optical verifier confirm the optical system before patient testing
  • Long battery life – about 360 hours or 2,700 tests from 4 AAA batteries, with an 8 minute automatic shut off

Why Choose This Hemoglobin Meter from MedicalEx?

Facilities pick this meter when they want laboratory style hemoglobin numbers without laboratory turnaround. Its combination of a 15 second result, a fingerstick sized sample and a 1,000 result memory covers the daily reality of clinic testing better than larger bench analyzers that tie testing to one room.

  • Visit speed answers – results land while the patient is still in the room, not after they leave
  • Low sample burden – a 10 microliter fingerstick sample is enough, which matters for pediatric and repeat testing
  • Documented 3 year warranty – the manufacturer stands behind the meter for three years from purchase

Manuals and Troubleshooting Guides

Frequently Asked Questions

What sample does the meter use?

It uses whole blood, either a capillary fingerstick sample or a venous sample collected in EDTA or heparin. Each test needs about 10 microliters, applied to the cartridge with a capillary transfer tube.

How accurate is it compared with a laboratory analyzer?

The manufacturer reports precise results equivalent to laboratory analyzers, with within run precision and total precision at or below 3 percent. A method comparison against a common hematology analyzer showed strong agreement in the manufacturer’s study.

Does it report hematocrit as well?

Yes, the meter calculates a hematocrit value alongside the hemoglobin result. The calculated hematocrit range is 35 to 51 percent on this cartridge based system.

How is the meter calibrated?

Calibration is automatic. Each canister of test cartridges includes a code chip, and inserting that chip sets the meter for the lot, with the code number confirmed against the canister label.

What warranty does the meter carry?

ACON Laboratories warrants the meter against defects in materials and workmanship for three years (36 months) from the date of original purchase or installation. During that period ACON will replace or repair a defective meter at no charge, excluding shipping.

Can results be moved to a computer?

Yes, the meter has a mini USB port for fast data transfer. It stores up to 1,000 results with date, time and ID number until they are transferred or reviewed on the display.
