Main Description
The LigaSure XP Maryland jaw instruments are bipolar sealer/dividers that combine sealing and division into a one-step activation. The Maryland jaw keeps the curved, tapered profile used for blunt dissection, grasping and sealing in open and minimally invasive procedures. Jaws carry the nonstick nano coating of hexamethyldisiloxane to limit eschar buildup and sticking across repeated activations. The devices are indicated where ligation and division of vessels, thick tissue bundles and lymphatics is desired, on vessels up to and including 7 mm. Per Medtronic's technical sheet, the XP instruments are compatible with the Valleylab FT10 energy platform running software 1.1 or higher, and they are supplied sterile, six per case.
Features and Benefits
- One-step sealing – A single activation completes the seal and divide sequence, simplifying the instrument's use in tight fields.
- Nano coated Maryland jaw – The curved jaw dissects while the coating resists the sticking that interrupts sealing.
- FT10 integration – The platform recognizes the device and sets energy delivery for its seal algorithm.
- Thick tissue rating – Indications extend beyond vessels to thick tissue bundles and lymphatics.

Why Choose This Product
The XP is the current Maryland jaw generation. Services upgrading their LigaSure fleet standardize here. One-step activation is a small change that pays off across hundreds of activations in a sealing-heavy list.
- Simplified activation – One-step sealing is the differentiator over the standard Maryland instruments' two-stage handling.
- Current generation – XP pairs the latest jaw with FT10 device recognition for consistent energy delivery.
- Dissection capable – The Maryland profile keeps the dissect-seal-divide workflow in a single instrument.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does one-step sealing change?
Earlier instruments separate the sealing and cutting actions. The XP design completes the sequence with one activation. That simplifies use when the instrument is deep in the field or the surgeon's other hand is occupied.
Will it work on a ForceTriad generator?
Medtronic's technical sheet for the XP line specifies the Valleylab FT10 platform with software 1.1 or higher. Check the instrument IFU before connecting it to any other platform.
Is this device sterile and single use?
Yes. It is supplied sterile for single use unless its label states otherwise, and it must not be reprocessed or reused. Check the package integrity and expiry before every case.
How should this device be stored?
Store it in its original packaging under normal room conditions away from heat sources and moisture. Rotate stock by expiry date and quarantine any unit with damaged packaging.
What if a configuration I need is not listed?
The configurations shown are the ones carried in this catalog for this product line. If a case needs a different size or load, contact us before ordering so the right configuration can be confirmed rather than substituted at the table.
