Description

The VanishPoint Blood Collection Set retracts its needle in the vein at the press of a trigger, and the retraction simultaneously clamps the tubing to reduce blood exposure. A clear body shows flashback during the draw, and the set is not made with natural rubber latex, PVC or DEHP.

  • In-Vein Retraction – Activation happens with the needle still in the vein, virtually eliminating exposure to the contaminated needle.
  • Tubing Clamps on Activation – Retraction clamps the tubing, reducing the risk of blood exposure after the draw.
  • Flashback Visualization – The clear body lets the phlebotomist confirm blood return during collection.
  • Gauge-Coded Trigger – The trigger indicator is color-coded by needle gauge for quick identification.

Winged Blood Collection Sets with In-Vein Retraction

Blood draws end with the riskiest moment in phlebotomy, the withdrawal of a blood-filled needle, and this set removes that moment from the workflow. The phlebotomist depresses the retraction trigger when collection is complete, and the needle pulls out of the vein into the device while the tubing clamps shut. The trigger design also reduces the risk of inadvertent activation during the draw.

Nine configurations combine three gauges with 7 in or 12 in kink-resistant tubing, with or without a luer adapter for syringe draws. The thin-wall needle carries a triple-cut bevel designed for patient comfort, and finger grips support handling during placement. Sets pack 50 per box and 200 per case.

Features and Benefits

Automated Safety

  • In-Vein Activation – The trigger retracts the needle before it leaves the vein, so the sharp is never carried exposed.
  • Clamping Retraction – The same motion clamps the tubing, limiting blood exposure from the line.
  • Guarded Trigger Design – The trigger resists inadvertent activation during handling and collection.

Collection Control

  • Clear Body – Flashback is visible as blood return confirms vein access.
  • Finger Grips – The grips support controlled placement and handling during the draw.
  • Kink-Resistant Tubing – Tubing in 7 in and 12 in lengths resists kinking between patient and holder.

Why Choose VanishPoint Blood Collection Set?

Phlebotomy teams judge a collection set on the draw and on what happens after it. This set protects both ends of the task, with flashback confirmation during collection and a clamped, retracted needle afterward.

  • Safer Draw Endings – In-vein retraction removes the exposed blood-filled needle from the tray and the room.
  • Confirmed Placement – Flashback visibility supports first-stick confidence and reduces repeat sticks.
  • Retraction That Clamps – Competing sets retract or shield, while this design also clamps the tubing against blood exposure.
  • Not Made with Latex, PVC or DEHP – The material profile suits facilities standardizing away from those compounds.

Manuals and Troubleshooting Guides

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the set activated after a draw?

When collection is complete, depress the retraction trigger while the needle is still in the vein. The needle retracts automatically into the device and the tubing clamps at the same time.

What is the luer adapter used for?

Configurations with a luer adapter connect to a tube holder or, with the adapter removed, to a syringe for syringe draws. Configurations without the adapter are set up for holder-based collection.

Which tubing length should I choose?

The 7 in tubing keeps the holder close for routine draws, while the 12 in length adds working room for difficult access or larger patients. Both lengths are kink-resistant.

What do the trigger colors mean?

The trigger indicator is color-coded by gauge: deep green for 21G, deep blue for 23G and orange for 25G. The coding helps staff confirm the gauge before the draw begins.

Can the set be used for IV administration?

Yes. The manufacturer rates the set for blood collection and for short-term IV administration of up to 2 hours.
